Day 1: The Art and Science of Partial Extraction Therapy

Abstract
Immediate post extraction implant placement is a well-established procedure. Tooth extraction is accompanied by an inevitable subsequent remodeling process of the alveolar ridge accompanied by soft tissue alterations.
Partial Extraction Therapy (PET) comprises of three surgical procedures; namely Socket Shield Procedure, Pontic Shield Procedure and Root Submergence technique. The Root Submergence and Pontic shield techniques help in maintaining the tissue contours in the pontic sites. The socket shield technique has the potential to preserve facial bone and soft tissues around implants.
